Graduation wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be. We all started out very excited for the day. Ethan got a laptop from us while Mark was reveling in all the money and gifts that he got from his birthday party last night. The rain clouds even gave us a break. However, graduation was LONG with 635 students, and Ethan was going through a lot of emotions. Within hours, he would be leaving for the summer and leaving all of his friends and family behind. He still needed to do some last minute shopping and wasn't packed. He seemed rather sad and stressed out and tired.
I have since spoken to him on the phone (while he is on the road to M-Boo's house) and I'm happy to report that he's back to his normal, happy, excited self. He's very optimistic about this summer. A great job in a great place, and he'll have some autonomy from all of us crazies :-) He has so much to look forward to and so many opportunities ahead of him. I take selfish comfort in the fact that we'll be there in a week, and we can see him again.
M-Boo here reporting that Ethan is very happy and not stressed. We had a wonderful breakfast with Ethan cooking scrambled eggs. We had bacon and biscuits. It was so nice and peaceful. So I will send him on his way up north to Interlochen about noon today with fried chicken and biscuits. Ethan is a terrific person with lots to look forward to.

M,
ReplyDeleteWe called him soon after he had left. We were driving home from church, starving and dreaming of Ramen for lunch. Ethan starts ripping off all the goodies that he has packed in his car, compliments of M-Boo. Fried chicken (with accompanying slobbery, chewing noises), biscuits, Jell-O, cookies and of course, bananas. This was after his delicious breakfast of bacon and eggs. Imagine that, M, a child of MINE eating eggs (of their own volition!)
