An Idyllic Evening

Tonight, the most wonderful thing happened. Nothing was planned, but everything came together better than I could have ever planned.

The other day, Mark brought out all our patio furniture, including a very comfortable sofa. Tonight, John had scheduled a temple recommend interview at our home with the husband of one of my closest friends, Elisabeth. So, Elisabeth tagged along. It started out with just the two of us, on the deck, talking. Glo entertained us by blowing bubbles for Dash--too funny for words! Slowly, the other kids started sitting down, bringing puppies with them and Glo joined them. The sun started setting, and Anna, Ethan's most wonderful girlfriend, brought out her viola. While we listened to her play, we watched the sun setting behind her. Everybody had a puppy in their lap, the weather was warm and breezy, the conversation afterwards was fun and entertaining.

On a side "note", Shawn, Elisabeth's husband, asked Anna if string players ever just plucked their strings instead of using the bow. I suggested she show how it works by playing "Twinkle Twinkle" pizzicato . We got a good laugh when Anna put her own spin on it. She would play one line of the song, beautifully, lyrically, amazingly and then end each line with one plucked note.
