Jake, the Fisher Cat

Our cat, Jake, was born in Germany (he made the long trip over when we moved here). In Germany, he was quite the Fisher Cat. In fact, he loved to visit our neighbor's small reflecting pond. There, the goldfish were so conditioned to come to the surface of the water to get food when they saw anyone come near, all Jake had to do was sit by the edge of the pond, wait for the fish to come up, and swipe one out of the water. He would then bring them to our front yard and leave them to die. Never mind that these fish were almost 50 YEARS OLD and had been bought when our 80-year-old neighbor's father was living. That was one tricky apology!

Well, with our pond goldfish now living in Glo's bedroom, Jake has rekindled his fascination with the fish kingdom. He likes to pretend that he doesn't really care about them by taking a long drink from the top of the aquarium when he first hops up (yes, there is no cover because John didn't want to buy the aquarium "kit"--he just "piece mealed" the aquarium together).

After his thirst has been quenched, he studiously stares at the fish, first from one side of the aquarium....

..to another....

Thankfully, our fish are still too young to trust anything, but give them daily feedings for the next several months, and John might end up losing all of his pond goldfish anyway!
