It is easy to touch those who easily accept kindness and outreach because they may have been blessed to have family, friends and support through difficult times. It is much harder to reach out to those who seem sad, aloof and do not share our ideals. The animals who have been fortunate to have been loved and then lose that love are the most shocked and sad but they too can be touched with new love and a kind voice. They seem the most grateful to be given a warm blanket and a kind touch.
If we fill the world with love and do not make "exceptions" for those we don't understand, don't like, don't want to help because they are difficult, blessings will fill our hearts. Working through these difficult situations makes the next outreach easier. People don't always choose their path in life. Giving those who are not so fortunate will fill us with love and understanding.
I have experienced very desolate times recently and that song of love always brings me to work harder to find those who are in more need than I am. It may be an desperate animal, an unforgiving family member, a difficult patient. If we find others who are deeply affected by the twists and turns of an unproductive and sad life, our hearts will fill with love and we can more easily share that love with those we do not like or understand.
I pray that we may all fill our hearts with love and touch someone's life we may have rejected, lost hope in or abandoned. That animal's soft kiss, shake of the paw or wag of the tail will let us know that we have sincerely touched a heart so in need of love and comfort. Tears from a person long rejected will tell us we have opened the door of understanding.
We must do it......... fill our hearts with love our whole life through.
Blessings in the new year.
