Mark and the Interlochen Hall of Fame

Tonight, Mark and I took a stroll through the "Gettings Concourse".  It's a series of halls that connects buildings to one another (like the administration building to the library to classrooms).  I suspect it's really just a way to save the Academy students in the wintertime--no sloshing through feet of snow to get to their next class (and no excuse to be tardy!)

Whom should we find on the wall, but our very own Markie Boy!  Last year, Mark was awarded the Marvin C. Howe horn scholarship.  It paid for half of Mark's tuition and was a life saver for us.  Marvin C. Howe was a brilliant educator in the field of horn, writing a famous technical book for hornists entitled The Singing Hornist.  For a great part of his life, Mr. Howe lived here in Northern Michigan and actually taught at Interlochen.  It was a privilege for Mark to be awarded that scholarship.

Another fun moment was when we found a photo of the final performance of the 2010 Summer Arts Camp at Interlochen.  Again, look at that handsome boy (if you can find him)!

What a great "career" Mark has had here at Interlochen.  Yes, we could have switched things up and sent him other places during the summer, but really, he has made so many friends here and had such stellar teachers.  Why go anywhere else?
