Can It Be?

For the first time today, the weather was actually warm. No coats in the morning, no umbrellas, no heater in the house, no gale-force winds, no snow (yes, it snowed here just 10 days ago). Just beautifully warm weather, and it being Friday night, we could hardly help but go outside.

For the first time in three years, we are harvesting a bumper crop of strawberries. We still have blossoms on the most of the plants, but look what we got tonight:

Glo is showing again what a dog whisperer she is, playing with Dash who is always up for anything with Glo:

Man, it feels good to be warm and be outside once again. Please, weather gods, let the sunshine stay for a while!

  1. Those strawberries look absolutely delicious! Who will be watching over your farm this summer during all your travels?

  2. Oh man, Sarah. They taste even better than they look. Seriously! I can't even imagine how many we will get this summer, but I suspect we will enjoy every last bite.

As a family, we'll only be gone two weeks, but even Johannah will be home with a YSA then, so she can keep picking. Too, she needs to protect the cherry trees from the darn starlings. They know they exact day the cherries are ripe, and they can clean a tree in an hour. The peas are already climbing the fence, the raspberry bushes are covered in blossoms and John has onions and lettuce growing. There's no way I'm NOT eating all that good food, diet or not :-)
